CAC offers free tax return preparation January through April for households earning less than $55,000 in 2012. The service is available to the public and is part of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Tax returns are completed by trained volunteer tax professionals. The program saves filers from paying tax preparation costs and ensures their taxes are filed correctly using all credits and deductions available.
