Holiday Donations:
You can help a struggling family in our community have a happy holiday season. Please donate grocery store gift cards or holiday food. Participate in our "Adopt-a-Family program and fulfill children’s holiday wishes. Read more about our 2009 Holiday Giving Programs.
"Second Helpings" food donors wanted:
We are looking for more pizza restaurants to donate excess prepared food to our food pantry. If your local pizza place or restaurant is willing to donate prepared foods, please contact Bob Evans or Marion Rivers at 770-552-4889.
Food Pantry Needs:
Cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned meat, spaghetti
sauce, canned peas or mixed vegetables, toilet paper, large powdered
detergent, household cleaning supplies.
Volunteer Needs:
Holiday Volunteers are needed to sort, wrap, bag and label donated gifts for CAC families. Volunteers are needed to work the Holiday Party December 19 when gifts will be distributed. Volunteers are also needed to sort and package holiday food donations. Contact Liza at volunteers@ourcac.org
Thrift shop Volunteers are needed to sort donations, price items, and staff the shop. Seeking volunteers who are ideally available 4 times a month, but no less than one time a month. Groups are extremely helpful with enough notice. The Thrift Shop is currently open three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 4 pm. As soon as more volunteers can be trained, the shop will be open more often. Contact thriftvolunteers@ourcac.org to volunteer.
Client Interview Volunteers are needed to interview individuals who are experiencing a financial crisis and seeking assistance from Community Action Center. We need volunteers to retrieve phone messages, interview potential clients over the phone or in person. Some work can be done from home. Volunteers should be able to work weekdays, at least once a week and a minimum of 4 hours per month. Training will be provided.
