About the Community Assistance Center

Community Assistance Center (CAC), formerly known as the Community Action Center, serves families and individuals in the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody communities. CAC’s services are designed to prevent homelessness, help meet basic needs and promote self-reliance. The Center provides food, clothing and emergency financial assistance to local residents facing unexpected crisis resulting in loss of income such as job loss, illness, death in the family, etc. The Center also provides adult education to enhance job and life skills and youth programs such as school supplies and holiday gifts for children in need.

CAC has been serving our neighbors in need for 30 years and is supported by 27 member congregations of all faiths, the City of Sandy Springs, Fulton County, the United Way, local businesses, residents, schools and civic groups. More than 200 volunteers operate all areas of the center from client interviewing to the food pantry to the thrift shop. Since CAC was founded in 1987 the center has touched 20,000 families in our community. In ___ we served 5,000 individuals and families.

The Vintage Affair is the largest annual benefit for CAC, raising more than $100,000 a year in the past few years. Because all food, wine and auction items are donated for Vintage Affair, almost every dollar raised supports our efforts to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need and in our community.
