Take the Food `n Fun Challenge and Help Feed Local Families Year-Round!
CAC’s Food `n Fun Challenge is a year-round, community-wide food drive contest. Enter a team from your business, school, congregation, neighborhood, civic group or club to collect food for CAC! Food drives must be complete by the end of April. Groups are encouraged to schedule a “Food Sorting Service Day” at CAC. Awards aer announced every May and given to organizations/businesses/schools for the most food collected!
The Challenge stocks the CAC Food Pantry to provide for local families in need year-round and eliminate child huger in the summer months. The local child poverty rate is as high as 29 percent and as many as 80 percent of CAC clients say they miss one meal every day to make ends meet. During the summer months, families face additional financial stress as food costs increase when children are home during summer school vacation and not receiving free lunches at school. While requests for food assistance typically increase during the summer, donations to the food pantry typically decline. CAC provides food to about 500-800 families making about 2,000 visits a month to the pantry.
Your team can help “Stomp out Hunger” in our community! Participation creates awareness of hunger issues in our local community and collects food and funds for CAC’s food pantry program which enhances the quality of life for everyone CAC serves.
In 2018, 34 groups took the challenge and collected 40,000 pounds of food! Plus sponsors contributed $22,560 for food! The Challenge stocked the CAC Food Pantry to provide for families in need for the summer months.
